Church

Built in the 15th Century St Marys has a squat tower, the result of centuries of neglect.Rather than rebuild it, the Victorians reduced the tower to the height we see today. During the 18th century a Rector called Stephen White oversaw the pastoral care of this community and St Mary's still contains memories of his stewardship. On the south wall is the wooden sign from the school he opened for the village children. This is now a private house, situated at the churchyard gate. Opposite, is his memorial - he died on Easter Monday 1773, called away from his labours, to receive their reward.

The stained glass evangelists of the O'Connors either side of the sanctuary are said to be some of Suffolk's best.

The church is open to the public every day and is currently in interregnum.

Please contact the benefice administrator Frances Torrington on 01206 298276 about baptisms, confirmations, weddings or for home visits.
